Friday Night Teacher "Meeting"

Every month or so, a good portion of the teachers get together for a "meeting."  It consists of all going out to a restaurant, where too much eating and drinking  occurs, and then going to a Noreabang.  Noreabang translates to singing room, so in other words its a karaoke room.  These businesses thrive here. they seem to be on every street.  Here are a few pictures from the night (Friday, the 22nd of April):

This is a possible noodle house down the road.

Mrs. Byeon - She is my Korean Mother.  I call her Mother and she calls me her son  :0)
She sits right next to me and takes care of anything and everything I may need.

Some teachers enjoying their Korean song.  These three in particular I am very close with.  I call the men "hyoung-neem" and the woman "nuna"  (Older brother and older sister)

Daejeon National Cemetery

A few weekends back, my friends and I decided to enjoy the nice weather and the cherry blossoms at the Daejeon National Cemetery.  It is a beautiful park in the most serene setting just outside of the city.  Here are a few pictures:

Example of a classroom

In Korea, the teachers move from homeroom to homeroom while the students stay put.  So each week I teach in some 20 different classrooms.  Here are two examples of what my classroom may look like.  Class sizes range from  about 25-40 students.  Notice their uniforms are full suits.

Southeast Daejeon from my rooftop

Here are some photos from the rooftop of my apartment.  They are looking east and south.  I am in the SE corner of the city, but there is still a bit to be seen.
